At the Breathing Festival in Mexico, Sasha Introduced a New Approach to Breathing

In 2026, during the 20th anniversary of the annual breathing festival in Cabo, Mexico, world-renowned breathwork pioneer Dan Brulé invited Sasha Yakovleva, Advanced Buteyko Specialist, to present at this special gathering.

As with all of Dan’s events, the atmosphere was relaxed, informal, and deeply human – a space where curiosity and open-minded exploration naturally unfold. This video above captures that authentic spirit.

The video above is Sasha’s talk at the breathing festival in Mexico. What you are watching is Sasha’s complete first session — presented here in full, without edits or modifications. While the footage is somewhat raw, it captures the real atmosphere of BreathFest and lets you experience the moment as it happened.

Most people in the audience had never heard of the Buteyko Breathing Method before this talk. Like many, they had been taught to breathe more, deeper, and heavier, believing that “more air” equals better health. Sasha introduced them to a radically different and revolutionary perspective.

Rooted in the work of Dr. Buteyko, this Breathing Normalization method challenges the modern culture of overbreathing and presents a powerful alternative: less breathing, done correctly, can profoundly improve health, energy, and resilience.

This session marks a powerful moment of introduction, where conventional (though alternative) beliefs about breathing were gently questioned and a new understanding began to unfold.
