How Buteyko Breathing Freed Me from Sleep Apnea and CPAP

For years, sleep apnea ruled my nights. I woke exhausted, gasping for air as if breaking the surface of water. Doctors told me I was too young, fit, and healthy-looking to have it, and when I was finally diagnosed, the ‘solution’ was a CPAP machine. I found it miserable—blowing air in my face all night, giving me acid reflux, and robbing me of comfort.

I went through expensive, invasive treatments with airway dentists and surgeons, and for a while I improved. But eventually, the apnea returned. I didn’t want more surgery, and I refused to go back to CPAP. That’s when I found Sasha and the Buteyko Breathing Method.

We worked together to raise my morning control pause from 4 seconds to about 25. My apnea episodes stopped. I started dreaming again, waking rested, and tracking both deep and REM sleep—something I hadn’t enjoyed in years.
